The App
- Is there an Android version?
- No, there is currently no Android version.
- Can I automatically import data from the old version?
- No. Too much has changed under the hood: the new version was rewritten from scratch using entirely different technologies, and maintaining compatibility with the old app's data would have prevented us from building the things we wanted โ iCloud sync, Apple Intelligence, a modern interface designed for both devices from the ground up.
We know that moving 14 years' worth of data is never straightforward. The good news is that the old app will keep working normally: you can browse your historical data and move it across to the new version at your own pace, with no rush. It's also a good opportunity to tidy up your archive. ๐ - Do I need to purchase the app?
- No. The new Counsel Planner is free to download. Out of respect for everyone who purchased our previous app and supported us over these 14 years, we decided to make the new version free. To create new content โ cases, hearings, notes โ an optional subscription is available for the price of a coffee a month.
- What happens if I don't renew my subscription?
- The app remains installed and all your data stays intact and accessible. You will no longer be able to create new content โ new cases, hearings or notes โ until the subscription is renewed. No data is deleted.
- Features I had purchased are showing as disabled.
- This can happen after a reinstall or on a new device. To restore them, go to Settings โ Subscription and tap Restore Purchases. The app will verify your Apple account and automatically re-enable all purchased features. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used at the time of purchase.
Hearings and Deadlines
- Is it true that hearings cannot be postponed once the date has passed?
- No, that is not true. All hearings can be postponed at any time.
- Can archived cases be recovered?
- Yes, archived cases can be retrieved and reused at any time.
Calendar and Sync
- I can't sync Counsel Planner with my iPad calendar โ is it possible?
- Yes. Counsel Planner can keep your device's calendar and reminders up to date. Simply enable the feature in the app's settings.
- Can I import data from my existing calendar into Counsel Planner?
- No, it is not currently possible to import data from an external calendar into Counsel Planner.
- If I edit the iOS calendar, will Counsel Planner update automatically?
- No. Sync is one-way only: from Counsel Planner to the iOS calendar, not the other way around.
Cloud
- Is iCloud sync mandatory?
- No. The app works perfectly without iCloud. Synchronisation is optional and can be turned off at any time from the settings. If you enable it, your data syncs automatically across all your Apple devices. An active iCloud account must be configured on each device.
