From 2012 to today
Fourteen years of Counsel Planner, one version at a time. A story shaped by the lawyers who told us every day what worked and what didn't.
A new beginning
After fourteen years, the technology beneath the app had reached its limit. Adding native iCloud sync, Apple Intelligence, a modern interface: none of it was possible without starting from scratch. So we did.
Version 26 is an entirely new app: a single universal binary for iPad and iPhone, an archive synced via iCloud, Apple Intelligence built into the notes editor. Same way of working — cases, hearings, deadlines — built on foundations that can last another fourteen years.
Out of respect for everyone who has followed us from the beginning, we chose to make it free. Downloading it costs nothing.

Eight years of refinement
From 2017 to 2024, version after version, the app grew by listening to the people who used it every day. New search features, recurring deadline management, integration with the system calendar, customisable themes, notification support, continuous adaptation to new versions of iOS and iPadOS.
None of these versions made headlines. Together, they turned the app into the reliable tool that thousands of lawyers open every morning without a second thought.
Comes to iPhone. Comes to the Cloud.
Two long-awaited features, in a single release. The app landed on iPhone — finally one agenda always in your pocket — and Cloud sync arrived: data stays up to date across all devices automatically.
It was 2016. Many users had been asking for both features for years. The day we released this version was one of the best since we first launched the app.

The app speaks English
With version 5.4 the app steps beyond Italian borders. It's the first fully translated English release: interface, content, legal terminology. A small step in version number, a big one in direction.
From that moment, Agenda dell'Avvocato — or rather, Counsel Planner — became available to lawyers around the world.

Rewritten from scratch in Swift
Four years after launch, version 5 is a complete rewrite. The language is Swift — newly introduced by Apple — and the target platform is iOS 9. Not an update: a fresh start under the surface, with the same familiar face.
That technical choice allowed us to build more solid features over the following years. It was also the first time we learned how difficult it is to start from scratch without losing the trust of people who use the app every day. A lesson that came back to us in 2025.

The first day
On 4 March 2012, Agenda dell'Avvocato arrived on the App Store. An iPad app built from scratch for lawyers who manage hearings, deadlines and case files every day. Nothing like it existed on the Italian App Store at the time.
The interface was built around the calendar: a clear monthly view, hearings at the centre, cases linked in. Few features, done well. That approach — calendar first — has never changed.
